We had another windstorm yesterday, and the electricity went out. In the silence of my living room, with my laptop on my lap, battery at 90%, I realized what a great opportunity it was to get some writing done.
I couldn’t look up the phone numbers of those people I needed to call. I couldn’t go grocery shopping. I couldn’t get distracted by surfing the net. I couldn’t even cook food (well, not without setting up the propane stove anyway).
But I could write until my battery ran down.
It turned out the power came back on after about two hours. I love electricity as much as the next gal, but I was a little disappointed.
I need to find ways to disconnect–to find that silence. It’s not often that the weather forces me to drop my to-do list, social media, and household work.
I need to write like the power is out.
Happy Yarning.
